A marketing coordinator is the key producer of materials that support Gensler’s direct business development efforts. They work under the direction of senior office staff and a regional marketing leader to write, design and produce proposals, presentations and other material used to help the firm win work and also support the general activities of the office/regional marketing studio such as awards, PR, information management, etc.
The Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for:
Working with senior staff to produce proposals, presentations; research, design, write and produce marketing materials. Co-lead strategy/kickoff meetings with regional marketing leader and BD champions Concept/write/design new material as needed to support marketing programs Conduct internal and external research on new opportunities, prospective clients and practice areas. Lead the proposal management, making sure that meetings happen, deadlines are met, and product is delivered on time. Research client, Gensler’s internal relationships, issues and trends with their business. Discuss with proposal director. [This is a shared task. The BDer will typically focus on relationship building and finding coaches to inform us about the project, while the marketing manager focuses on the data aspects.] Proposal writing is a shared function between the proposal director and the marketer. Marketer should be able to write pieces about Gensler, such as quality program, history, market presence, etc. Marketer should also be able to edit strategic pieces. Marketing should be able to take ideas on any given piece (other than scope), and translate it into a well-written, persuasive communication. The Director should draft the Approach. Scope should always be written by a PM or PIC. Design the proposal in conjunction with brand standards. Responsible for proposal’s adherence to brand standard. Marketing manager should develop graphic skills constantly, as there are areas with only minimal brand standards, such as presentations, org charts, and process charts. Know firm portfolio in detail, understand practice area and other service capabilities of firm. Seek out firm’s best practices for use in proposal. Reviews pitch strategy throughout process with proposal director. Question whether proposal matches the strategy set-out at the beginning of the proposal. Quality – Responsible for grammar, typo editing, voice and tone of document. Manage proposal to allow enough time for this review. Contact RML if you need outside quality reviewer. [This is a shared function with the Business Developer who should also read the document for content accuracy and point of view.] Manage project close out – save information that will be valuable for future proposals to marketing drive.
